Biography

Bill Abbott was born in Dallas, Texas in 1972. He moved to Houston in 1985 and attended High School at Klein High School in Spring, Texas.

In high school Bill Abbott played football while working part time. After high school Bill Abbott attended the University of Texas where he majored in History and minored in Spanish. He was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity at the University of Texas, as well as the Phi Alpha Delta pre-law fraternity.

In 1995 Bill Abbott went to Lubbock, Texas where he began his legal studies at Texas Tech’s School of Law. He interned at the Lubbock District Attorney’s office, and graduated law school in 1998. He passed the Texas State Bar on his first attempt and was licensed to practice law on November 8, 1998.

In January of 1999, Bill Abbott joined the Ogletree Law Firm. Shortly thereafter he met his wife-to-be Sally Bennett, and they married in 2002. His two sons, William Cory Abbott Jr., and Robert Andrew Abbott were born in 2004 and 2006, respectively.

In 2003 he was made Partner, and Bill Abbott and Bill Ogletree formed the Ogletree Abbott Law Firm. The Ogletree Abbott Law Firm is one of the largest Workers’ Compensation law firms in the State of Texas and one of the leading national plaintiff trial law firms representing injured workers.

Bill Abbott was Co-Author and editor of “Jones Act – Maritime Law, For Injured Workers.
