The mountainous terrain of Idaho became the 43rd state on July 3, 1890. It is the 14th largest state in terms of area – larger than all of New England combined. Despite being a landlocked state, Idaho is home to the farthest inland seaport on the West coast, located in the city of Lewiston. The capital and largest city in the state is Boise.
