South Carolina
On May 23, 1788, South Carolina became the eighth state to join the nation. Located in the Deep South and the 24th most populated state (pop. 4,625,384), South Carolina is an ideal location when searching for a Personal Injury Lawyer. The capital and largest city in South Carolina is Columbia. The 34th largest port in the United States is located in Charleston, South Carolina. Various lakes cover portions of South Carolina, including Lake Marion, Lake Hartwell, Lake Wylie, and Lake Greenwood. South Carolina is still the subject of controversy because of its inclination to fly the Confederate Flag. The flag was once flown on top of the statehouse – it was removed from that location in 2000 and now hangs near a fallen Confederate soldier’s monument. Nicknamed the Palmetto State, South Carolina’s state spider is the Carolina Wolf Spider, the state bird is the Carolina Wren, and the state fruit is the Peach.
